Haunted

You used to haunt my dreams at night
Held back by guilt, blind to the light
A prisoner of disillusions
Couldn’t tell the nightmares from visions

You used to haunt my wretched heart
For years for you, I’d tear apart
My kingdoms, worlds and all I’d built
To free my soul from all the guilt

You used to haunt my soul within
Where thoughts of you were weights of sin
My back bent over from the weight
The cross I’d bear all whilst I’d wait

You used to haunt me in my thoughts
Turned into stones the tears I’d fought
But now I set my soul free from your chains
No longer will your torment reign
